Hello,
im really happy as yesterday i have receive package stuffed with Lotr/Hobbit miniatures. About a week ago i have found a toy store that have big sell out of old stuff and guess what, they have Lotr/Hobbit products also. All prices about 60-70% lower so i made a huge shopping. Im so happy as I have great material for my paintings efforts. Dunlendings, corsairs, plastic wargs, looots of new mirkwood and gundabad, dol amroth, some oop stuff like few Radagasts, mahud king, armoured Faramir, over 40 blisters and few boxes. Im totally happy :P

I highly recommend you looking for Gw products in shops not definitely focused on wargaming.

Painted GUNDABAD ORCS - warparty 1

Hey,
few weeks ago i have finished a pack of Gundabad orcs. I think this miniatures are really great,
the sculpt are done very well, however casting is rather bad. Assembling  require a lots of work with knife and green stuff.
However i would highly recommend this minis as the pose and sculpt are very natural and  similar to what we see in movie.
The only drawback is that they are made of finecast and are quite expensive if you would like to build larger force. In future i would definitely work more with Gundabads.
Kind regrds

Gundabad BLACKSHIELD goblins (LOTR)- painted

Hey,

a week ago i have finished some old  commision work.
It was a pack of matal Gundabad blackshields. i find it to be amuseing to experiment with those greenskins. this was my first goblins painted ever. Im quite satisfy with the fur colours and overall look.

Gundabad Orc captain - painted (HOBBIT)

Hey,
for my German friend yesterday i have painted a Gundabd orc captain. As a colour scheme i was inspired by "red orc" concept art from Weta.
I really like this reddish type of armour, however it should look more like rusted than so blody gore. Finaly im satisfy with bloody effect. I plan to experiment in future with other colours.

And some pictures.

Fake alert - episode 1 (Shieldbearer)

I remember when I returned (after several years) to collecting LotR miniatures I really wanted to avoid a situation that I pick up fake miniatures.

As I don’t want to spend money on cast copies I have to check every miniature and try to track those corrupted :)

After some examination I could recognise cast fakes easily. Most of fakes are the same and each miniature has the same characteristic flaws (from the same "producer").

Today I would like to present copy of  Dwarf Shieldbearer.
Since last year  I have seen at least a few of them sold on EB, it is a pity that  people pay for this cast crap (20-30 GBP).
Most characteristic thing on cast copy would be:
1. Axe, is really badly cast, and it looks as if it was broken, and glued together. Also fingers are barely visible. There is no holes in the axe. Here you can see how the axe should look like.

2. Almost no trace of fingers.
3. Shallow chainmail, holes are filled with metal material.
4. You can hardly read the miniature name on the base bar and sometimes base bar is missing at all.

Tips:
-take a close look at the axe
-check the base bar
-control detail depth
-ask for a detailed photo if you ar not sure

Here is an example of my own miniature:
